BCCSWF members do well in Clearwater by Bruce Skaggs The 21st All British Field Meet & Autojumble put on by the Tampa Bay Austin-Healey Club in Clearwater this past Oct 27th, 2007 was the rallying point for nine of our members and 5 of their LBC's. Cy & Marsha Ling had their TR 4A, Bill & Mary Newman had their Spitfire, Marji & Jerry Wilcox had Marji's TVR, Dave McIntosh drove his Austin Healey 3000, and Carolyn & I had our new Mini S. At the risk of being labeled the wimps of the group, we opted for the comfort of the Mini over our TR 3 for the 2.5 hour trip. Also, the weather was a little bit rainy, and if you have ever driven a TR 3 (or most any older LBC) in the rain - need I say more? Dry is definitely better than wet when driving from Fort Myers to Clearwater, but I digress. Our members scored well with three first place awards. But the hit of the show as far as our club was concerned was the canopy that Bill and Mary brought that kept us dry during the morning showers, thanks Bill and Mary |
