Christmas season blew in early with rain and winds but weather took a break for BCCSWF party goers on December 17th. A few decorated LBCs were placed outside identifying the Hideaway Country Club as the place for our Christmas Party. 61 members and a couple guests enjoyed plentiful elegant appetizers while socializing and surprisingly talked not just about British cars. Holiday plans with friends and relatives were shared. Our current president, Hermann Schaller, in his inimitable way, recognized members who make the club work as well as it did in 2023. He recapped this last year with a joyfully recounting of the membership increase with our merger with the Triumph Club and addition of members to a total near 300. Our clubs term limits keep the officers fresh but we will miss the administration as it was.
Most all of the party goers strolled out to see the few holiday decorated British cars for the off and on again display. Chris Cosden’s properly Triumph, Randy Fogel‘s suitably decorated Rolls-Royce and Gary Blessing’s garishly lighted MGB. All these cars were considered winners and received awards. Dinner was as stylish and tasteful as expected. But, wait there was more. Intrigue, surprise, coveting, theft and even a good natured threat befell the members. The annual gift exchange with gift “stealing” completed the evening.
We were very happy to see Gary Maue, one of our founding members, as he had not been to an event in quite some time. He was excited to be getting involved again. Sadly, his wife Trish let us know that he passed a few weeks later. The photo of Gary and Cecil Carter, another founding member, is our first photo.
